Is Oily Skin More Susceptible to Acne?

It is notable that although 85% of people between ages 12 to 24 are acne sufferers, there is still nothing to eradicate this common skin problem. This icondition afflicts infants, teenagers and adults alike and only varies in intensity of skin infestation.

There may still not be a cure for acne but there are effective treatments for this skin condition. Be aware that you must know your skin type before employing any acne treatment procedures.

Skin is primarily the outer covering of the whole human body, the largest organ of the body, and a barrier that puts off microorganisms and harmful elements from entering the body. It is responsible for some vital bodily functions like regulating the loss of body liquids such as blood and water. Also, it protects body tissues from injuries and controls body temperature through perspiration.

The skin is composed of different layers, namely: epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. The epidermis plays a significant role in acne production as it includes hair follicles, sweat glands and sebaceous glands. This part of the skin is also very responsive to changes in temperature, pain and itching as it covers blood vessels and nerve cells.

On the other hand, skin is roughly categorized into three: normal skin, dry skin and oily skin. Aside from these primary types, it is further subdivided into different categories where certain conditions apply. Basically, these are skin combinations, for example, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, aging skin and mature skin.

Usually, acne-prone skins are oily and are characterized with pimples and blackheads. If not given considerable care and treatment, these pimples and blackheads would likely develop into severe acne conditions and may leave permanent pits and scars.

Acne-infected individuals must take extra care in treating their skin, watch their food intake and what cosmetics they use. Not only people with acne should give proper attention to their skin types, this advise also applies  to others and may provide substantial aid maintaining healthy skin.

Apart from acne-prone skin, sensitive skin and oily skin are also subjected to acne affliction. Oily skin is often coarse and shiny in texture. This may have enlarged skin pores and recurring blackheads. This is also characterized with flaky patches around the nose and may produce large amounts of oil or sebum. These are the factors why acne infection is widespread in this skin type even during adulthood.

Sensitive skin yields to acne easily due to the fact that it is readily affected with the slightest change in the body chemistry brought about by foods, cosmetics and external influences. It is regarded as a skin type with damaged vessels and capillaries below the skin surface.

In case you might have developed sensitivity of the skin, then it is proper that you take added care in both external and internal factors that may suggest skin inflammation. Perfumes, cosmetics, and other chemical substances must be appropriately chosen as they may trigger chemical reactions in the body, which in turn might produce skin irritation and acne production. Proper diet must also be observed along with regular exercise as to maintain bodily functions and keep metabolism in good shape.

Depending upon the weather, skin oiliness may vary at different times of the day. However you put it, only proper care for the skin is wholly important in maintaining its health. Also, stress must be minimized for it may generate acne breakout, induces aging and may cause other skin diseases and disorders.
